On Wednesdays we share things.
First
Please enjoy this scene from Spooks, wherein a young Matthew MacFayden and the incredible Lorcan Cranitch share a tender trust exercise.
Sadly they don’t have sex after this.
If you haven’t watched Spooks, you should, at least the first two seasons. Tom Quinn walked so Tom What’sHisName could run, that is final.
Spooks is where MacFayden met his wife the perfect Keely Hawes!!!!!
Second
Ponder, as I do, the spatial and visual trickery of Leandro Erlich’s Swimming Pool piece.
This White Pube essay on swimming pools in art is really great.
“The swimming pool is about dead time.”I am obsessed with this natural swimming pool in New Jersey.
And this one in Austin.
And beautiful Colman Pool, an outdoor salt water pool right by the sound!!!!!!!
I highly recommend watching The Ponds, a documentary about year-round swimming in Hampton Heath.
Ask yourself, as I do, what a cat cafe with a Swimming Pool would be like.
Will every Wednesday be like this? MAYBE. Next week perhaps I will share my highly-calibrated summer swimming, reading, and watching list in full. This Friday I’m either interviewing members of an artist’s collective in Kyiv or writing something about the ethics of aquatic robots. If there is anything you want to see or hear about, comment on this post or email me :).
Third
This is the whip round part.
Please consider becoming a paid subscriber. Without getting into it (although you never know? ), it’s pretty desperado around here. If you can’t, that’s ok! Maybe you can help spread the word to people in general so we can get past this cringey aspect of the whole thing. If you can do it, please go for it.
